Cathedral League
Mandate
The mandate of the League is to beautify the interior of the Cathedral.
Structure
There are regular executive committee officers. The League meets monthly, the first Monday of the month, in the afternoon, except the summer. There are close to 30 members (active & special lists).
Sample Activities/Projects
There is a program for each of the meetings so that members can advance their spirituality & learning. Recent projects have included name plates for the Saints windows in the Cathedral, and the plaques for the names of the Deans and Bishops of the Diocese.
Gordon Group
Mandate
An active group of women who address the ACW mandate by strengthening themselves spiritually through prayer, Bible study, good works, and outreach.
Structure
A fairly loose knit structure with a Chairperson. Members share responsibility for conducting devotions. Meetings are weekly.
Sample Activities/Projects
The Gordon Group is not a fund raising group, but its members are generous with donations to support its broad based service & outreach work. Support for the Cathedral takes many forms, one of the most regular being the folding of the weekly Bulletin. Outreach to the Diocese and the wider community is varied, consistent, and extensive.
Sanctuary Guild
Mandate
A broad based lay ministry group of mostly women, with some men, who provide direct, regular service in support of the worship work of the church.
Structure
The work of the Sanctuary Guild is divided into sub groups: Flowers, Fair Linen, Hangings & Altar cloths, Silver, Brass. All involved are invited to attend the AGM of the Sanctuary Guild that takes place in the fall of the year.
Sample Activities/Projects
The weekly maintenance of the church so that the worship can take place in a liturgically correct manner forms the regular work of the guild. Several times in the year, the Sanctuary Guild organizes a work party to do a thorough cleaning of the Cathedral. All are welcome to contribute!
St. Catherine's Group
Mandate
To engage in fellowship and be open to learning & opportunities for service.
Structure
Monthly meetings, 3rd Wednesday of the month, 7:30 pm. There is a Coordinator & Treasurer. There are approximately 12 members.
Sample Activities/Projects
Guest presenters, spiritual programming, outreach (St. Mark’s Food Bank & Missions to Seaman), fundraising, help with special events.
