The Introit for this service is “Surrexit Christus Hodie” by the Renaissance composer Samuel Scheidt. The Canticles were composed by Herbert Murrill (1909-1952) known for his work as Head of Music at the BBC. The Anthem, “If Ye Be Risen Again” by Orlando Gibbons, features duets and trios for soprano and alto soloists alternating with full choir sections. Gibbons was organist at Westminster Abbey until his death in 1625. The Voluntary is Bach’s magisterial “Fugue in E Minor (The Wedge)”.
